WT3 John Badamo enlisted in the Navy in response to the bombing of Pearl Harbor. He served aboard two ships in the South Pacific. He was first assigned to Patrol Craft #290 to chase Japanese submarines and protect Pearl Harbor, San Francisco and Aleutian Islands. Later he served on the weather ship USS Sacramento, where he monitored the weather in preparation for the invasion of Japan. One of his most significant accomplishments was saving the ship’s engine from potential explosion at sea.
He reminds us that “Freedom is not free and to love America”.
